ABOUT

Paula Viitanen Aldazosa, currently based in so-called Vancouver, BC, is an interdisciplinary theatre artist with a diverse artistic practice of set and installation design, photography, carpentry and technical direction. She found her love for theatre and performing arts in the Finnish National Theatre, where she worked while completing a degree in Industrial Joinery in Helsinki, Finland. Since relocating to so-called Vancouver in 2014, she has completed a BFA in Theatre: Production and Design from Simon Fraser University. She is currently interested in approaching the process of creation through the framework of rhythm, patterns and devising. The ephemerality and uniqueness of site specific work and the act of inviting unexpected characteristics of a location to influence the process are themes she considers in her work.

Recent selected work includes Brimming (Set Construction Coordination and Built, Company 605, Vancouver), BLOT (Object Design, Action at a Distance, Vancouver), We Are by Which We Are Moved in Return (Technical Direction / Set Design, MACHinNENOiSY, Vanvoucer), I miss doing nothing(Installation Design, Plastic Orchid Factory, Vancouver), Oh What a Beautiful Morning (Technical Direction, Fight With a Stick, Vancouver), Fuchsia Future (Light Design, Elysse Cheadle, Vancouver), Topophilia (Set Design, SFU, Vancouver), Cinerama (Technical Direction, Fight With a Stick, Vancouver), Between Two Rocks (Technical Direction, Macromatter, Taipei/Vancouver), Romeo + Juliet (Set Design, SFU, Vancouver),  Repertory Dancers: 5 New Works (Light Design, SFU, Vancouver), and Revolutions (Stage Management, Fight With a Stick).
